Mickey's Backyard BBQ

Another highlight of our trip to Orlando/Disney was Mickey's Backyard BBQ.  You can't go to Disney and not participate in their fun and unique character meals.  After many suggestions from friends and a lot of research, I decided to make reservations on Saturday evening for Mickey's Backyard BBQ.

When we arrived at the Fort Wilderness resort, it was a short bus ride to the pavilion where the dinner and show would be.  It was everything you would expect at a barbecue - picnic tables, yummy food, and some good old country music.  It was low key, quick moving, and perfect entertainment for young kids.  Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Chip & Dale quickly took the dance floor to hang out with the kids.  Addie was terrified 99% of the time unless she was clinging to one of us, but for a short period she chased Minnie around and I have the most adorable video of the 2 of them dancing and twirling around.  The look on Addie's face as Minnie dances to the music with her is absolutely priceless.  It made my whole night!  The characters took 3 short breaks in which you could go meet them, get their autographs, and take photos.  Then, it was back to the dance floor.  As the evening came to an end and the melt downs started, we decided it was time to go.  We boarded back on the bus and I guess after a day of riding fun rides at the park, a 2 year old thinks even a bus ride is exciting.  The bus had to make several stops on our way back to the parking lot and every time Addie would yell, "Ready, Set, Go" and throw her hands up in the air.  She laughed and smiled more in our 5 minute bus ride than she did the whole dinner show.  I guess that's the thing about toddlers, they are unpredictable and hilarious all at the same time!  If I would have known that she would have enjoyed the bus ride the most of all, I would have skipped the whole character meal, we would have picked up a pizza, and rode the bus back and forth instead.  There's always next time...
